NORTHEAST KINGDOM – St. Johnsbury Academy’s (SJA) Kerrick Medose and Danville’s Andrew Joncas hit career scoring milestone’s last week in what has been sensational senior campaigns for both players.

Medose surpassed 1,000 career points for the Hilltoppers last Tuesday in a win over Mount Mansfield. Medose is averaging over 12 points a game for SJA this season and has them positioned third at 12-5 in the current Division I standings. The senior guard has made the impressive leap from Division IV basketball after earning a Vermont Dream Dozen selection as a freshman playing for Twinfield-Cabot. The Hilltoppers will be back in action on Thursday night with a home match-up against Rice Memorial.

Andrew Joncas became the all-time leading scorer for boys’ high school basketball at Danville last Wednesday, dropping 40 points in a win over Blue Mountain. Joncas surpassed the 1,580-career points mark set by Dwayne Lynaugh 59 years ago. Lynaugh brought three state titles back to Danville in his legendary career and has his number retired in the rafters. He presented Joncas with the game ball prior to their game against Northfield on Friday night, where Joncas proceeded to score 21 more. Joncas is averaging nearly 25 points per game for the Bears this season and has them ranked No. 3 in the current Division IV standings. Joncas and the Bears were state runners-up to Grace Christian last winter. Danville and their star senior guard will be back in action at Stowe on Friday to wrap up the regular season.
