HARDWICK – Grow Your Own is offering two workshops, Saturday afternoon, April 12 and a third introducing the Just Transition framework for a regenerative economy Sunday as part of Hardwick State weekend.
Growing Microgreens Saturday, April 12, 1 to 3 p.m at Atkins Field will introduce students to growing microgreens, which are rich in nutrients and vitamins and easy to grow indoors.

Blueberry Pruning workshop taught by Zach Leonard of High Hopes Orchard follows from 3 to 5 p.m. at Atkins Field. Students will learn about blueberry pruning and maintenance.
Grow Your Own is a partnership between the Hardwick Area Food Pantry and the Center for an Agricultural Economy (CAE) to increase community food independence and well-being through shared knowledge, skills, and experience. The program offers free workshops taught by neighbors that focus on gardening, cooking and food preservation.
The Just Transition framework used by the Climate Justice Alliance is the subject of a workshop Sunday, April 13, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p,m. in Hardwick’s Memorial Building. Born out of the labor movement, Just Transition is about shifting from an extractive economy to a regenerative one. Participants at this workshop will explore these ideas and how Hardwick might fit into the framework. The Center for an Agricultural Economy and the Institute for Agroecology at the University of Vermont will facilitate with the CAEs Bethany M. Dunbar co-facilitating.
