To the editor:
I serve as President for two volunteer-led nonprofit organizations; the Northeast Kingdom Arts Council (NEKarts), which stewards the historic Hardwick Town House and the Hardwick Downtown Partnership, which supports the economic and cultural vitality of downtown Hardwick. Both are 501(c)(3) organizations sustained through community fundraising and municipal appropriations. Both are committed to transparency, accountability and meaningful service.

Recently, both organizations experienced incidents of alleged financial misappropriation. Upon discovery, swift and appropriate actions were taken.
We are pleased to report that all misappropriated funds have been recovered. In addition, both boards have implemented enhanced financial safeguards to ensure strong oversight and to maintain the trust of our community as we continue our mission-driven work.
The Hardwick Downtown Partnership remains focused on strengthening the social, cultural, and recreational fabric of our town. To learn more, visit hardwickdowntown.org
NEKArts is proud to launch its 24th season of programming at the historic Hardwick Town House. We invite the community to join us in celebrating the arts. Details are available at hardwicktownhouse.com
I know I can speak for both groups in saying that we are grateful for your continued support of these vital community institutions.
