DANVILLE – Jennie Moore will take over the reins of the Caledonia United (Twinfield-Cabot-Danville) softball program this spring as they start a new era with the three-school cooperative playing their games at Paul Remick Field in Danville.
With temperatures finally rising and the high school softball season set to start next week, Moore and Cal United will look to build on the momentum of the last two seasons under Christin Martin and Summer Haverick. The Twinfield alums led the program to its first winning season and postseason success for the first time in nine years, and its first playoff wins in back-to-back seasons in over a decade. Moore brings championship experience as a player at Danville (2013) as well as coaching experience at both the high school and college levels. Moore was also a two-time captain of her then Johnson State softball team.

“I am so excited to be taking over the team!!! Its super exciting to return to high school softball because I remember the dedication, passion, and enthusiasm that my team had when I played, and I hope to instill the same team environment for the team that I am coaching,” said Moore.
Cal United had a disappointing 4-10 record last season, but played their best softball late, upsetting Craftbury Academy in the first round of the Division IV playoffs before falling to Blue Mountain in the quarterfinals.
Moore returns All-Mountain League First-Teamer Phoebe Crocker, along with Second-Teamer Sophia Mancini, and Honorable Mention Austin Roos. She will also lean heavily on the senior leadership of infielder Ida Astick, continuing to help develop the younger players in the program. Roos, Crocker and Mancini are all talented underclassmen and should only continue to get better. Moore will have to find a workhorse in the circle this season and underclassmen Myah Morgan has been stepping up in practices early on. Her team will have to navigate a highly competitive schedule but returns enough talent to continue to grow and develop her up-and-coming program.
“My main coaching philosophy is skill development and team building. I have some strong leaders who are supporting their teammates, while working to make everyone better every day. I value hard work and good teammates, and I hope to see the program grow and develop as the season progresses,” said Moore.
Cal United is set to kick off their season next Tuesday at home against Randolph, weather permitting. They are schedule to hit the road the following Thursday against powerhouse Blue Mountain.
