Greensboro Town Clerk (left) opens the door at the town hall for the day’s first voter Cilla Smith, at 10 a.m., April 29. The vote is on authorizing the Greensboro Select Board to enter into a purchase and sale agreement to sell the former school building that was emptied of students when Hazen Union School in Hardwick opened in the early 1970s. The town clerk eventually moved into the building’s ground floor and later, overflow elementary school students from Lakeview School filled several other of those ground floor rooms. A favorable vote will pave the way for Rural Edge to take further steps to develop the building into 16 to 20 rental apartments, with room for the town clerk to remain in the basement and space for the Giving Closet. The town’s recycling center and The Hardwick Gazette office sharing space with artist Nancy Reige will likely need to relocate. A full report on the vote will be in next week’s edition. photo by Paul Fixx
