LAMOILLE – After disappointing losses to Lamoille and BFA-Fairfax to start the week, the Craftsbury Academy (CA) softball team rallied to hold their first lead of the season in the final innings before falling late to Paine Mountain (Northfield-Williamstown).

Quinn Sheldon struck out 11 to earn the win and helped her own cause with a double and four runs to lead Lamoille to a 19-5 home win over the Lady Chargers last Tuesday. Hayley Bezio powered the Lady Lancer offense with four hits and six RBIs as they steamrolled to their first win of the season. CA strung together seven hits in the loss.

After a 12-0 loss to Division III powerhouse BFA-Fairfax (8-2) on Wednesday, the Lady Chargers held a lead in the bottom of the seventh at Paine Mountain on Thursday before Abby Truman walked it off in the bottom of the seventh to help her team escape with a 10-9 win. Adelina Augsberger led the way with three runs on the day for CA, as they scored five in the top of the fifth to take a 9-7 lead. Lizzie Hallock earned the win in relief and belted four hits on the day for Paine Mountain. Savannah Boyce took the complete game loss for CA as they fell to 0-10.

The Lady Chargers wrap up the regular season with a home and home against Caledonia United on Thursday and Friday before hosting Blue Mountain on Saturday.
