GREENSBORO BEND – The Habitat for Humanity duplex home now has a shingled roof, with labor and materials donated by Vermont Construction Company. August 9 is the annual Greensboro Bend Block Party from 3 to 7 p.m. and initiative volunteers will be there. Tours of the duplex will be offered from 3 to 5:30 p.m.

Over the past two weeks, volunteers working under Site Supervisor Bill Hardy and John Mackin, have framed in the interior walls, which are now ready for the electricians and plumbers. Volunteers will be needed again in August to construct porches and decks.
The public phase of the fundraising campaign has been kicked-off with an offer by a local donor to match the first $25,000 in donations dollar-for-dollar. Donations can be made at by selecting the Greensboro Initiative via the Habitat for Humanity website.
