Share article
Rectangular areas identify wetland areas where trees will be planted on land reclaimed during construction of the Hardwick Food Hub building. The area is bounded by Wolcott Street, Wright Farm Road and the Lamoille River, the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail and the Hardwick Food Hub building. The project is being managed by CAE Farm & Food Business Specialist Daniel Keeney and involves students in Anja Pfeffer’s, Dare To Be Me class at Hazen Union High School, who have helped with the initial plantings. The first planting, Monday, Nov. 3 in block 1a was with mixed upland trees and wetland shrubs. In block 1b are midland’ wetland shrubs. Planting in the other blocks is planned for spring 2026 with upland trees, wetland shrubs, a wet meadow mix and more midland wetland shrubs
