Town plow truck ditched avoiding snowmobile

Share article

WALDEN – Town Clerk Debbie Messier confirmed a January 18 social media post indicating that a snowmobile neglected to stop at the crossing on Upper Harrington Hill in Walden, Saturday, Jan. 17, causing the town plow to veer to avoid it and go into a deep ditch. The process of extricating it took well over an hour during which the road was blocked.

“I can confirm that it happened,” Messier said.

“The Town is grateful that due to our driver’s quick actions no one was injured. This could have had a very different outcome. t did require the town hiring Cochran Transport to lift the truck out of the ditch with its 30 Ton Wrecker. ”

The truck received damage but was able to be driven back to the Town Garage, said Messier.
