BURLINGTON – Vermont 4-H was well-represented at Eastern States Exposition on September 17 and 18, with more than three dozen 4-Hers highlighting their 4-H projects and interests through action exhibits, talks, stage acts and other presentations at the New England Center.
They were selected to participate at the “Big E” in West Springfield, Massachusetts, after winning blue ribbons at the annual 4-H State Day in May. In addition to performing on stage, many of the 4-H’ers also rode on floats in the daily parade on 4-H Day, September 16.
Local youth representing Vermont were: Action Exhibits, Blazing Bridles 4-H Club, Danville (“Halter Holder.” Kaylee Demars, St. Johnsbury; Paige Hemond, St. Johnsbury; LeighAnn Judd, Wolcott; Jenesy Zwart, Danville); and Caspian Critters 4-H Club, Greensboro (“Three Thrilling Things to Do with Too Much Milk.” Natalie Hill, Greensboro; Emma Rowell, Greensboro Bend; Maia Young, Glover).
Several photographs and posters by Vermont 4-H’ers were selected for exhibition in the New England Center throughout the 17-day run of the fair. These were voted People’s Choice Awards at 4-H State Day in May. These included: Photographs, LeighAnn Judd, Wolcott (“Sweet Magnolia”).
