Rain bookends forecast; mostly pleasant conditions through Sunday

EAST HARDWICK – This week’s forecast features simple, unfussy conditions, compared to the last forecast period which was quite temperamental. It featured intervals of sun with humid conditions, some episodes of thunderstorms, and significant air quality concerns with smoke trapped at the surface due to ongoing wildfires in Canada.

Today starts out with a frontal boundary crossing the region, providing the focus for a few scattered showers and thunderstorms through midday. As that exits, a large area of high pressure deflects the chances of precipitation through the day on Sunday. Temperatures will start out in the 70s, with a slight increase in temperature and humidity by the time we reach Sunday. Another frontal system approaches Sunday evening with a renewed chance of showers and thunderstorms.

As far as smoke goes, that appears to be minimally impactful this week. All in all, a beautiful summer week with the need to consistently water some of the outdoor plants and gardens, and remember the sunscreen if you’re outside. Here are the forecast details:

Wednesday: Partly sunny. A chance of showers and thunderstorms through midday. High: 76. Low: 52. South wind around 5 mph, becoming west in the afternoon.
Thursday: Mostly sunny. High: 72. Low: 50. West wind 5-10 mph.
Friday: Sunny. High: 78. Low: 55. Calm wind.
Saturday: Sunny. High: 82. Low: 58. Calm wind.
Sunday: Mostly sunny. Becoming partly sunny in the afternoon with a chance of showers by evening. High: 85. Low: 60. South wind around 5 mph.
