ALBANY – Old homemade film may be preserved at Home Movie Day at the Albany Town Hall on October 21.

For those who have a box of old super 8 films or 16mm, experts will be available to review films and offer guidance on their care and preservation.

Film Archivist Mary Albee; Rachel Onuf, Vermont Historic Records Director; and Vermont Historical Society Volunteer Fred Pond will review films using manual film viewers to assess their condition for projector viewing there.

Films that have previously been converted to video or DVD formats are welcome (bring the actual film) to assess for long-term storage and to share home movies.

Film will be reviewed from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., with a pizza dinner from 6 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. There will be a film viewing from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Albany Town Hall is located at 830 Main Street.

To register for the event and for questions, contact [email protected]. This collaborative project is supported by a grant from the Pleasants Fund of the Greensboro United Church of Christ.
