To the editor:
I was surprised to read in a letter to the editor in your paper a few days ago that I had run for office in Franklin County. Since I have never even lived in Franklin County, much less sought any office there, my interest was piqued by this mystery and so I called the Vermont Secretary of State’s office to learn more. I learned that 24 years ago, one person wrote my name in on a ballot in Franklin County. I am, of course, gratified to know that at one time, one person somehow, somewhere liked me well enough to write my name in on a ballot in some race. But I’m not sure it qualifies as running for office. Anyway, it is nice to know I have a friend in Franklin County. It might be my brother. He likes me, and he lives in St. Albans.
