COLCHESTER – Head coach Ashley Gravel and her young Craftsbury Academy (CA) bowling team wrapped up their third season as a program over the weekend at the VT High School Bowling State Tournament at Sparetime.

Coming off their first match win of the season, Gravel and her team made up mostly of sophomores, got their first experience of state tournament competition versus seventh-seeded South Burlington. The Wolves swept the tenth seeded Chargers in a best-of-seven Bakers Match to advance. South Burlington fell to second seeded Fair Haven in the next round, who went on to upset top seeded Randolph to take home the team championship.
“Bowling four games against S. Burlington proved tough for our squad of five. I think they struggled mostly with their confidence. Walking into states is a different ball of wax, and that format can be quite intimidating if you have never experienced it before. While we didn’t bring home any hardware, what never wavers with this team is their smiles, spirit, and commitment to themselves, each other and us as a coaching staff. It has been an incredibly fun season, and I couldn’t be more grateful. I can’t wait to welcome them all back next year!” said Gravel.
