GREENSBORO — Greensboro Free Library (GFL) has completed its search for a new director by reorganizing the library’s management structure into three areas working in collaboration with each other: library services, operations and youth library.
“After searching for a library director and exploring viable options that would serve the community, the board is delighted with the results of our search. Our exploration has led us to a new structure,” said Board Chair Shelly Jungwirth. “The library team is working collaboratively with one another and reports directly to the board of trustees.”
Ed Lemery has joined as operations manager to handle administrative aspects of the library’s day-to-day business, as well as managing artist displays. “He has a wide array of technical, media, and art experience,” said Jungwirth.

Assistant Librarian Bianca Caputo is advancing to library services librarian to take on new tasks that will include managing GFL collections and adult programs. She will share her “talent for welcoming all as well as a growing knowledge of our patrons and books,” said Jungwirth. “Youth Librarian Emily Purdy will continue her excellent work providing enriching activities and books for young people.”
The new structure is another exploration of management and tasks, Jungwirth added. “The board of trustees thinks this will well serve the staff and greater Greensboro area, the Bend and surrounding communities frequenting our library.”
