On Sunday, Oct. 5, about 9 p.m., the Cabot Fire Department responded to a report of a grass fire near a barn with animals. The incident was an unpermitted burn. The fire was quickly extinguished and the surrounding area doused. Mutual aid partners from Marshfield and Walden also promptly responded to the incident. Vermont remains subject to a statewide burn ban based on our severe drought conditions and lack of recent rainfall. In Cabot, Sunday’s fire danger was rated as “high,” while just to the north in Walden, the danger is rated as “very high.”
