STOWE – The Twinfield-Cabot girls’ basketball team lost a pair of road games last week following a series of season-ending injuries to some of their best players, derailing any momentum to their season at 3-9.

Parker Reeves poured in a game-high 22 points to lead Stowe to a 39-29 home win over Twinfield-Cabot last Monday. Marin Leonardo chipped in with eight for the Lady Raiders as they improved to 3-8 on the season. The shorthanded Lady Trojans trailed by only one at the break, but ran out of gas down the stretch. Already down their inside presence in junior Alice McLane, who was lost for the season against Williamstown, leading scorer Jorja Washburn and senior Aleacya Moshinskie were also lost for the season last weekend in a loss to Richford. First year head coach David Conover had his young team building momentum with a pair of wins last week, but had their season turned upside down in a matter of days.

“Our team is really struggling right now and losing Alice, Jorja, and Aleacya for the season has forced us to recalibrate our goals. We started the season implementing new systems and developing players and then the girls started coming together as a team quickly and we were already competitive this year. Now because of the injuries to our core, we have to shift and invest more time in our younger players,” said Conover.

Emma Korrow powered Northfield’s offense on Tuesday, leading the Lady Marauders to a 48-19 home win over Twinfield-Cabot. Northfield improved to 4-6, taking advantage of a hobbled Lady Trojan team and avenging a 60-37 loss to them earlier in the month.

“We’ve called up several players from our practice squad, including eighth grader Finley Washburn. Eighth grader Chloe North and sophomore Mariah Dunbar stepped up and gave us quality minutes on both ends of the court this week. We are super proud of them and the entire team. We have a tough stretch ahead of us and will continue to work hard,” said Conover.

Twinfield-Cabot were scheduled to host Milton on Monday before traveling to take on a red-hot Hazen Union team on Tuesday.
