At 10:13 p.m., on Thursday, May 18, the Walden Volunteer Fire Department was called to a fully-involved structure fire on Route 15, and immediately requested mutual aid from fire departments from Danville, Cabot, Hardwick and Greensboro. Fifty firefighters and apparatus responded. Water supply was drafted from both a dry hydrant across from Walden School and a nearby brook. Tower 4 from the St. Johnsbury Fire Department, Calex Ambulance Service and the Vermont State Police also responded to the scene.
