MARSHFIELD – The Twinfield-Cabot-Danville (TCD) softball team put the finishing touches on an impressive season with their first playoff win in over nine years before falling to second seeded Richford in the quarterfinals.
Aydyn Paige powered the offense with a 4-5 day to lead the Lady Trojans to a 17-4 home playoff win over Northfield last Tuesday. Fellow senior Hannah Haverick added three hits for TCD as the program captured its first playoff win since 2014 and its first winning season in five years. Danville’s duo of Kendall Hale and Ella Marshia also shone in the win, with Kendall twirling three innings plus of no-hit ball and belting a double with Marshia adding two hits, including a two-run triple. Maddi Sweet led Northfield with a pair of hits as their season ended at 3-12.
“We worked some walks and added some nice hits early to get our offense going in the first inning. We only made a few errors and our defense was strong throughout the game to stamp out any potential big innings from them. Summer Haverick and I were so proud of how the girls played and to see the growth of this team from the first few games was really rewarding,” said co-head coach Christin Martin.

Mikayla Chagnon was a perfect 5-5 with a pair of doubles and a triple to power Richford to a 21-4 home quarterfinal win over the Lady Trojans on Friday. Kyrielle Deuso added a homer and a triple and Talia McCray earned the victory in the circle, striking out 10 over seven innings. Maddi Duke was strong in the loss for TCD, holding the Rockets potent offense at bay for four innings, before surrendering 11 hits. Aydyn Paige continued to swing a hot bat for the Lady Trojans, racking up three more hits in the loss. TCD’s season ends at 10-7, but the cooperative between the three schools was a huge success in Martin’s and Haverick’s third year at the helm. Their senior core of Maddi Duke, Aydyn Paige, Hannah Haverick, Kim DeBona, Aleacya Moshinskie, and Julie Williams helped rebuild a struggling program at Twinfield and will go out as winners with a much-deserved playoff win under their belt.
“Richford is a great team and the girls did a good job of holding them down the first five innings. We were so proud of how the girls played today and the development and changes in our team this year were exciting to see as coaches. Having a cooperative program with Cabot and Danville this season worked incredibly well and gaining those six players brought a different skill set, competitiveness, and personality to our team. All of our seniors were instrumental in leading and helping this team succeed this season. We are sad to see them go, but so excited to see what they’ll do after high school!” said Martin.
Richford has steamrolled to 12 wins in their last 13 games and punches their ticket to the Division IV Final Four. They hosted the winner of the Blue Mountain-Proctor match up on Tuesday, with a trip to the state title game on the line.
