On March 7 officers from the Berlin Police Department were called to Walmart in Berlin for a late-reported retail theft.
During the investigation, it was determined that two females had stolen merchandise from Walmart. Officers did not know the two females and issued a press release to identify them.
Officers were able to identify both females with help from the public. The one female was identified as Ashley Horton, of Calais.
On March 11, Horton came to the Berlin Police Department to receive her citation. She was issued a citation in Vermont Superior Court, Washington Criminal Division on May 1 at 8:30 a.m.
On March 15, the Berlin Police Department responded to the U.S. Post Office within the Berlin Mall in Berlin for a report of an assault between two employees. During the investigation, Alonza Wood, of Plainfield, had used pepper spray to allegedly assault her supervisor during a verbal altercation. Wood was issued a citation to appear in Vermont Superior Court – Washington Criminal Division on March 17.
Point of Clarification: The Berlin Police Department has no control over bail or incarceration. Those matters are handled by the Judicial System, including the Judges, Court Clerks and the State attorney’s Office.
