Beerstadt Fest Features Four Breweries, July 11

ST. JOHNSBURY – On Friday, July 11, from 5 to 8 p.m., the St. Johnsbury Athenaeum Beerstadt Fest will celebrate its fourth year. The event is held rain or shine under tents in the back garden of the Athenaeum with four area breweries including Dirt Church, Hill Farmstead, Kingdom Brewing and Red Barn Brewing. Admission is free for those not drinking beer. Soft drinks and water are free. Food will be available for purchase from Rocky’s NY Style Hot Dogs. Live music will be provided by Tom Stamp. Tickets provide up to ten beer samples.

The Beerstadt Fest was inspired by the central work in the Athenaeum Art Gallery, Albert Bierstadt’s “The Domes of the Yosemite.” The painting, given to the Athenaeum by Horace Fairbanks in 1873, fills the rear wall of the gallery. Its restoration in 2018 was made possible by hundreds of donors as well as state and federal grants, and it continues to draw visitors from around the country and the world. Since Bierstadt means “Beer Town” in German, the name of the Athenaeum’s renowned artist inspired the creation of this event.

Tickets are limited and can be purchased online at the Athenaeum website, or contact Scott Davis at [email protected] or (802) 745-1393.
