PLAINFIELD – Thursday, September 17, Cabot Firefighters provided mutual aid support to the Marshfield Fire Department for a structure fire on U.S. Route 2. Cabot firefighters participated in the initial interior attack, subsequent exterior attack and overhaul of the structure and outbuilding where the fire was believed to have started. The incident resulted in the closure of Rte. 2 for several hours. Many agencies responded to assist the Marshfield Fire Department, including Plainfield, Walden, Woodbury, East Montpelier, Montpelier, Danville, Barre Town and Waterbury. Additionally, colleagues at Cabot Emergency Ambulance Service responded as part of the EMS response, which included East Montpelier and Northfield Ambulance. EMS providers offered rehabilitation checks and support to the responding firefighters.
