HARDWICK – Construction began Friday, Feb. 27, at the South Main Street retaining wall and pedestrian bridge site. Work is expected to continue into early summer with traffic impacted on Mill Street, South Main Street and Wolcott Street (Vt. Routes 14 & 15). Traffic will be reduced to one lane with alternating traffic lights. Delays are expected. Plan ahead, allow extra travel time and consider alternate routes if possible to help reduce congestion.
All downtown businesses remain open during construction. Restaurants, shops, and services in the South Main Street, Mill Street, and Wolcott Street area will remain open and accessible throughout the project. The town encourages residents and visitors to continue stopping downtown to shop, dine and support the local businesses that are an essential part of Hardwick’s community and economy.
