GREENSBORO – The flowers, birds, barns, and back roads of the Northeast Kingdom are the subjects of Elaine Cole-Kerr’s paintings on the halls of the Greensboro Free Library this month.

Cole-Kerr is a self-taught artist born and raised in Westmore who hosts a gallery at her home in Greensboro. She works in a number of mediums including pencil, watercolor, oils, and acrylics, and her paintings are enhanced by distinct wooden frames built by her husband, Rod Kerr. Cole-Kerr created a portrait of the library that adorns the reading room. She also has illustrated picture books, and will share her new book at an upcoming story time. Her works call to mind the “primitive school” whimsy of Grandma Moses and the Cahoons. The library will hold an artist reception for the new show on Tuesday, August 15, at 6:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. For more information, contact the library at (802) 533-2531 or [email protected].
