GREENSBORO – The Caspian Arts summer exhibition at the Grange in Greensboro has been extended by three weeks. The exhibition was slated to close August 13, but due to the disruptions brought about by the flood, it will be extended through Sunday, Sept. 3. Gallery hours are Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Caspian Arts was formed under the auspices of the Vermont Crafts Council in 2010. Judy Dales, renowned quilter of Greensboro, sought out local artists and craftspeople and as she did it became apparent to her that the hills around Caspian Lake and the surrounding area were full of talented and creative people. Through her efforts, Caspian Arts was created. The first exhibition was held that year at the historic Miller’s Thumb in Greensboro. The following year, Caspian Arts originated the Open Studios Tour which has been an annual event ever since except for a brief pause during the pandemic.

Caspian Arts has held exhibitions at the Highland Center for the Arts in Greensboro, the Whitewater Gallery in East Hardwick, the Emile A. Gruppe Gallery in Jericho, and the MAC Center for the Arts in Newport before establishing their own seasonal gallery first at the Yellow Barn in East Craftsbury and now at the Grange in Greensboro, which was refurbished by the group this year.

The exhibition features more than 20 area artists in the freshly painted space. A range of media includes drawings, paintings, prints, pastels, photographs, sculpture, jewelry and fiber arts. Most artworks are for sale. In the entrance area, artworks for under $100 are available.
