CRAFTSBURY – At its August 22 meeting, the Craftsbury Select Board discussed scanning town records, ongoing floor damage repairs, and investigating installing electrical access on the Common.

The town clerk report noted that the water issue in town hall was fixed, and the town received a $4,000 municipal grant.

The board discussed a proposal for scanning town records. The draft proposal was from RecordsForce, which is headquartered in Portsmouth, N.H. The discussion at the meeting raised several issues, including that if there were a fire, the town’s records would be destroyed. The board voted to proceed with records preservation work and to approve a contract with RecordsForce for up to $34,000.

The Vermont Municipal Clerk & Treasurers Association Annual Conference will be held Sept 12 and 13 at the Lake Morey Resort in Fairlee.

The road foreman report noted that work continues on culverts in town. Upcoming projects include testing gravel at the gravel pit, identifying conditions that would trigger the opening of the emergency shelter and activating the Neighbor-to-Neighbor group, and investigating the possibility of installing electricity on the Common. There will be an inspection with two electricians to assess the feasibility of the project.

The next select board meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 5, at 7 p.m. at the town hall.
