On April 14, at approximately 1400 hours, Jessica Devenger, of Newport, reported her sister Lisa Devenger had been stabbed multiple times at Lisa’s apartment on South Main Street in the town of Hardwick. Officers from the Hardwick Police Department and Hardwick Rescue Squad responded to the scene. Lisa Devenger reported she was stabbed multiple times by an ex-boyfriend and he fled the scene. Lisa was transported to Copley Hospital by Hardwick Rescue for non-life-threatening injuries. She was released from Copley the same day.

The investigation revealed the stab wounds were self-inflicted and Lisa Devenger made up the false report to get her ex-boyfriend in trouble. Lisa Devenger was issued a citation to appear in Caledonia Superior Court – Criminal Division – on June 20, at 8:30 a.m., for the charge of False Report to Law Enforcement.

At approximately 15:06 on April 23, Dylan Laflam, while traveling westbound on Vt. Rte. 15 E, hit a deer that had run across the road. Laflam’s vehicle sustained only minor damage and no one was hurt. The deer eventually ran off into the woods under is own power.
