Sheriff Thrailkill announced plate number 111 would be retired.

“Today was a historic and honorable day for the Caledonia County Sheriff’s Department and Hemond family,” he said.

“It is a great honor to present your family with James’ license plates and photographs of his cruiser. I hope these items serve as enduring reminders of his dedication, commitment and the respect he brought to this department.”

He continued, “111 was an assigned call number specific to the Caledonia County Sheriff, as each County Sheriff across the state is assigned a specific number of their own.

“Moving forward I, and hopefully any future Caledonia County Sheriff, will be assigned call/car number 114. 111 should and will now remain with Sheriff James Hemond, his legacy and with his family.”

“Thank you to the Hemond family for allowing me the opportunity to present you all with this tribute!” Sheriff Thrailkill concluded.
