Railroad Street and Eastern Avenue in St. Johnsbury will be the scene of the end-of-the-season Final Friday on August 25.
ST. JOHNSBURY –Partners Discover St. Johnsbury, the Town of St. Johnsbury, and Catamount Film and Arts are closing out the Final Friday series this year with the event scheduled for Friday, Aug. 25. Starting at 4 p.m. Railroad Street will be closed to motorized vehicles and filled with 40-plus free interactive live art demonstrations, family fun activities, a gallery stroll, sidewalk sales, tasty treats, food trucks, a beer garden, and more. At 7 p.m., the event closes out with a free performance in the heart of downtown.
Featured free programming at the street fair includes a live art creation project by Harlan Mack; live music by Chickweed; live portrait drawing by Larry Golden; doggie hydration stations from the Friends of Dog Mountain; henna tattoos from Amal Eltaib; SHINE dance-fitness popup classes by NEK Prosper!; and more including kids crafts, dance demonstrations, and free goodies like popcorn,
cotton candy and lemonade.
Food trucks will be available with meals for purchase during the street fair, along with a beer and mocktails garden hosted by Kingdom Taproom and Cosmic Cup Café, which opens at 6 p.m. Businesses along Railroad Street and Eastern Avenue will also stay open late and host sidewalk sales and activities in-store.
The St. J Art on the Street Gallery Stroll by Catamount Arts features art exhibitions, meet-the-artist activities, and refreshments in a dozen locations along Railroad Street and Eastern Avenue, including Bread & Puppet at Haven.
At 7 p.m., songwriter Diana DeMuth will perform. Her vocals have supported the likes of The Lumineers, Melissa Etheridge, Jade Bird, Amos Lee, The Felice Brothers, and Michael Franti. Catamount Arts will bring their signature mobile stage to the heart of downtown St. Johnsbury, turning Railroad Street into a summer concert venue to showcase DeMuth’s songs.
