Fall for St. Johnsbury Brings Foliage Festival Activities Oct. 7

ST. JOHNBURY – After the announcement of the all-new “Fall for St. Johnsbury” festival on Saturday, Oct. 7, dozens of community organizations have come forward to offer events and activities during the festival.

Currently, more than 30 activities are scheduled to take place all throughout the town. The full lineup can be found at discoverstjohnsbury.com/fallforstj. A printable schedule will be available via the website the week of the event, or at the Welcome Center, 51 Depot Square.

“Signs are promising that fall foliage will be nearing peak the day of the event, and you certainly won’t find a better day to explore town and discover all that there is to love about St. Johnsbury. The best of our beautiful, creative, delicious, friendly, and generous community will be on display all day long.” says Gillian Sewake, Director of Discover St. Johnsbury.

In addition to the previously announced all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast by St. Johnsbury Meals and Wheels at the Good Living Senior Center, the annual pie and secondhand book sale by the Friends of the St. Johnsbury Athenaeum, fall brunch at the United Community Church, UCC, Fall Dog Party at Dog Mountain, and St. J Art on the Street Gallery Stroll by Catamount Film and Arts, several new activities have been added to the schedule.

These include a pumpkin and mum sale at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, a guided hike up Observatory Knob for exceptional foliage viewing, a bandstand concert by the St. Johnsbury Town Band, a free performance of Modern Times Theater’s “The Baffo Box Show,” the First Annual Halloween Costume Swap by the Halloween Parade Committee, a Heart Space Healing Collective Open House, live music by New Hampshire-based bluegrass group Foster’s Home on Railroad Street, a Free Fall Photo Booth by Phillips Creative, a food drive by Kingdom Rotary Impact, kids crafts at several locations, sidewalk sales, pop-up activities, and lots more.

Plus, the all-new St. J Vintage Market Curated by Haven, from noon to 5 p.m., at Depot Square Park has announced their lineup of NEK and New England-based vintage apparel retailers. The event also includes the food trucks Mexi-Rico Autentico, Rocky’s New York Style Hot Dogs, and Goodwin Family Maple, serving maple cotton candy. Xavwav of Montpelier’s Buch Spieler Records will be spinning and selling vinyl. And, a new community skate park organizing group Skate Johnsbury will be leading a game of S.K.A.T.E. at 3 p.m.

Many activities happen downtown, but plan time to explore scenic drives or bike routes on the back roads, including a trip out to Portland Street and Spaulding Road to experience views at Dog Mountain’s Fall Dog Party, delicious organic maple caramel apples at Sweet Seasons Farm and Artisan
