GREENSBORO – Famous singer song-writer Dave Mallett will be joined by some of Northeastern Vermont’s finest musicians at the Highland Center for the Arts in Greensboro in a special holiday concert to raise funds for the Highland Center’s Arts in Schools Program. The concert will be held at the Highland Center at 7 p.m., on Saturday, Dec. 16. The concert will be preceded by a traditional New England holiday dinner and will be opened by Vermont musicians including Roy MacNeil, Annie Rowell, Mavis MacNeil, Leslie Campos, Kyle Woolard, Jess O’Brien, Andrew Koehler, Harrison Martin O’Brien, Randy Bulpin and others. Dave Mallett and the local musicians will also be joined by a half dozen Lakeview Elementary School students, directed by Leslie Campos.

The Highland Center for the Arts brings world class talent, such as Dave Mallett, to Greensboro. The Arts in Schools Program aims to create opportunities to engage schools and students in programs with these artists with the hope of inspiring and developing future generations of artists, dancers, painters, writers, musicians, dramatists, and thespians. Using the Highland Center’s unique facilities and resources the Arts in Schools Program offers students of all ages educational opportunities to learn about the arts and cultures of other places and other times.

Dave Mallett, who has been the recipient of numerous music awards, has been called “an American treasure.” His songs have been recorded by hundreds of other musicians including Emmy Lou Harris, Alison Krauss, John Denver, Kathy Mattea, Arlo Guthrie, Pete Seeger and the Muppets. His well-known “Garden Song” is known by many elementary students in the country.
