Artist: Cara Armstrong Title: Still Life with Birthday Treats Medium: Digital Drawing
MONTPELIER – The T.W. Wood Gallery will present “Everyday Alchemy” featuring the works of Cara Armstrong from January 3 through January 20.
Armstrong’s digital drawings bridge the gap between digital imagery and poetry. Her artistic journey is an investigation into the transformative nature inherent in daily routines and settings, seeking the extraordinary within the mundane–everyday alchemy. Drawing has allowed her to traverse the corridors between the commonplace and the introspective, showing the evocative potency residing within personal possessions as well as place.
Armstrong’s approach to blending architecture, literature, and art reaffirms the transformative power of creative expression across various mediums. She is the director of the School of Architecture and Art at Norwich University in Northfield.
An artist reception will be held from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on January 12, at the gallery.
The Gallery also has two contemporary exhibit spaces, The Nuquist Gallery and the Contemporary Hall, that exhibit the work of regional artists. Located at 46 Barre Street, the Gallery is a short walk from the shops and galleries in downtown Montpelier. For more information visit twwoodgallery.org.
