CABOT – In January, auditions were scheduled for “Anne of Green Gables,” to be presented in the spring by the Cabot Community Theater.
A large crowd watched in the Willey Building as The No Strings Marionette Company performed “The Snowmaiden” with puppeteers Dan Baginski and Barbara Paulson.
The Cabot Village Fourth Annual 12th Night Celebration, January 5 and 6, included live music, theater, performances, storytelling and workshops. Midnight Capers, including Stu Corso, Jeff Swift, Ben Jeffries, Karen Mueller-Harder, Nathan Colpitts and Lisa Hantman, performing a Longsword dance during the celebration.
The town’s Headwaters Restaurant was reported to have a new life ahead. A man calling himself Chris answered the phone on January 30, and told the reporter that he’s at the restaurant and working with the owner to put the proper staff in place to reopen. He did not suggest a reopening date.
In February, the school board recommended the school remain open for all grades.
Alexander Tree Sugarhouse held an open house during the Spring Maple Open House Weekend, March 24, after a snowy Saturday that brought no visitors.
The Cabot community celebrated flood resilience amidst receding waters on July 10.
The Cabot United Church celebrated 175 years of services in July.
The Cabot Community Theater summer camp presented “How I Became the Nightmare Queen” on July 19, at the Cabot School Performing Arts center.
Also in July, Roy Schiff, a principal water resources engineer at SLR Consulting talked with Cabot’s Flood Resiliency Task Force chair Gary Gulka at the backdrop of Cabot Village’s south tributary of the Winooski River.
The bluegrass band, Forest Station, began the free summer music series Tuesday, Aug. 6, on the Cabot Village Common.
Christine Malcolm and The Kate Brook Romp performed at the final event in the Cabot Arts Free Summer Music Series, on the common, Tuesday, Aug. 27.
The Cabot village common was the main venue for producers tables, food trucks and activities during the annual Cheese and Culture Festival, Saturday, Sept. 28.
Following the opening of the Old Town Center Trail in late May, the Cabot Trails Committee opened the Burtt’s Orchard 1.3-mile loop trail in August.
Cabot’s Ride the Ridges had 180 bicyclists out for a ride in August, to benefit mentoring.
The Flood Resilience Task Force had a free dinner and community conversation Wednesday, Sept. 18, at the Willey Building.
Mary Bothfeld Golden, who grew up in Cabot, was featured in an article for her 100-year birthday.
A candidate forum, Pizza and Politics, was held Thursday, Oct. 17, on the third floor of the Willey Building.
The Cabot school board wrote in the October 4 school newsletter that it has “after much discussion over several meetings, recently updated a policy on how and when community members can use the school facilities.”
In November, Mary Rogerson was selected as Legislative Page for the 2025 session.
