GREENSBORO – Heartwood will present “The Well Tree,” a participatory musical journey illustrated with a crankie, on Friday, Nov. 7, at 7 p.m. at the Highland Center for the Arts. The show is an illuminated hand-cranked scroll made by papercut artist Jennifer Jones. The three members of Heartwood, Heidi Wilson, Willy Clemetson, and Sarina Partridge, are the actors, musicians and crew that runs the crankie.

“The Well Tree” is an original singing-story about journeying and remembering. Heartwood is a trio of singers and instrumentalists. They first came together as a trio in 2021 during a musical intensive on Rabbit Island, a remote 91 acre island in Lake Superior. Wilson has been leading community singing in Vermont for the last 19 years.
