MIDDLESEX – Several local runners posted impressive times earlier this month in the Bear Swamp 5.7 Mile Run at Rumney Memorial School.
Donna Smyers (69) of Adamant won her 60-69 Female Age Group with a time of 51:39, crossing the finish line over 90 seconds ahead of her nearest competitor. Hardwick’s Elizabeth McCarthy (73) was tops in the 70-79 Female Age Group with a time of 57:18. Hardwick’s Thomas Hogeboom (75) was runner-up in his 70-79 Male Age Group with a time of 55:05.
George Aitken (32) was the overall winner with a time of 36:15. Montpelier’s Addie Hedges (23) was the top female runner with a time of 41:20, finishing fifth overall. Mack Gardner-Morse (65) of Calais posted a strong runner-up finish (13th overall) in the 60-69 Male Age Group with a time of 44:17.
Next up on the Central Vermont Runners circuit is the Barre Heritage Festival 5K Trail Race this Saturday.
The 15th Annual Caspian Challenge is scheduled to kick off on Sunday at the Ballfield in Greensboro at 8:30 AM.
