On September 22, at approximately 5:12 a.m., troopers from the St. Johnsbury Barracks were notified about an individual destroying property at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital in St. Johnsbury and assaulting hospital staff. Troopers from the St. Johnsbury barracks as well as officers from St. Johnsbury Police Department responded. The individual on scene was identified as Aaron Smith, of Hardwick. Investigation revealed Smith had destroyed equipment and walls in the hospital, assaulted staff, and yelled profanities while threatening to fight staff. Smith was taken into custody at approximately 5:50 a.m.

At approximately 1 p.m., Smith was arraigned at Caledonia County Superior Court by the Honorable Judge Michael Kainen. The court ordered Smith be held on $1,500 bail. Smith was transported to Northeast Correctional Complex in St. Johnsbury.

On September 22, at 9:37 p.m., troopers with the Vermont State Police observed a yellow Chevrolet Corvette and white BMW sedan racing and traveling at an extremely high rate of speed on Vt. Rte. 62 in Berlin. A traffic stop was conducted on the yellow Corvette. The operator, Samuel Mattson, of Marshfield, was issued a citation to appear in court at a later date and time for Negligent Operation.

On September 25, at approximately 12:01 a.m., a trooper assigned to the Vermont State Police St. Johnsbury Barracks conducted a motor vehicle stop for several motor vehicle violations on Interstate 91 near Mile Marker 137.6 in the town of Lyndon. The operator was identified as Elizabeth Chadwick, of S. Albany. While speaking with Chadwick, Troopers detected several indicators of impairment. Chadwick was subsequently arrested for the suspicion of DUI and transported to the St. Johnsbury Barracks for processing. At the conclusion of processing, Chadwick was released with a citation to appear at the Caledonia County Superior Court on October 16, at 8:30 a.m., to answer to the charge of DUI No. 1.

On September 25 at 10:31 a.m., the Vermont State Police responded to a report of an assault in the town of Craftsbury. Investigation determined James Brochu, of Craftsbury, assaulted and placed a household member in fear. Brochu was later transported to the Vermont State Police Derby Barracks for processing.
