On November 21, Officer Force attempted to issue a citation to vehicle operator Colin Mercier, of Hardwick, who was parked at the Jiffy Mart on Mill Street. Mercier saw the law enforcement officer approaching his vehicle, put the car in drive and drove away, subsequently attempting to elude a law enforcement vehicle with emergency lights and sirens activated. On November 29, Mercier was arrested and issued a citation to appear in Caledonia County Superior Court on January 8, at 8:30 a.m., for Criminal DLS and Eluding offenses.
On December 5, at approximately 7:35 p.m., the Hardwick Police Department was dispatched to the Dollar General to investigate a Retail Theft that had occurred a little earlier that night. The suspect appears to be a stocky white male wearing a dark hoodie and a dark knit cap. This individual was captured on the store’s surveillance video taking $38 worth of items and leaving the store without paying for them.
On December 8, at 10:30 p.m., the Hardwick Police Department encountered Dilan Dean Jiron, of Hyde Park, hitch hiking on Vermont Rte. 15 just west of the Kwik Mart. The officer stopped to check on the subject and learned he was in violation of his pretrial Conditions of Release related to Auto Theft, Burglary, and Unlawful Mischief charges in Lamoille County. He was issued a citation to appear in Caledonia Court to be arraigned on the new charge.
Update on missing juvenile: Benjamin Manning has been located and is safe.
