On September 26 at 0912, troopers from the Vermont State Police – Williston Barracks responded to a two-motor vehicle crash located on I-89N at MM 70.0 in the town of Bolton. Upon arrival, Troopers located the first vehicle at a position of controlled rest on the shoulder facing north and the second vehicle a few feet ahead at a position of uncontrolled rest off on the shoulder facing the same direction. Further investigation revealed that Alayna Hull, of Plainfield, was sitting on the shoulder due to a flat tire, when the second vehicle coming northbound was in the traveling lane side swiped her as she was on the shoulder. Robert Williams, of Waitsfield stated he was traveling northbound in the right lane at normal speed and was changing the station on his radio when he side-swiped Alayna’s vehicle. Once airbags deployed in his vehicle, he managed to bring his vehicle off to the shoulder as well. As a result, both drivers sustained no injuries and provided no signs of impairment. Due to disabling damage to both vehicles they were removed by E&S Transport.
Troopers were assisted by Richmond, Bolton and Williston Fire Department.
