Hardwick Police Report

On Tuesday, June 20, at approximately 10:47 a.m., a Montgomery Road resident reported suspicious activity at a house located at 857 Montgomery Road in the town of Hardwick. Hardwick Police responded and discovered the home had been burglarized. The home owner, William Dawson, met with Hardwick Police at the home. He reported approximately $1,000 worth of items taken from the residence and numerous items within the home had been vandalized. Hardwick Police met with a 14-year-old juvenile who admitted to the burglary. The majority of the items taken were recovered and returned to the home owner. The juvenile was issued a citation to appear in Caledonia County Family Court on July 27 for the charge of Burglary.

On Thursday, June 22, Dale Manning reported a theft of Apple Airpods from his residence on Main Street in Hardwick. Hardwick Police subsequently met with a 14-year-old juvenile who admitted to taking the Airpods from Manning’s residence. The Airpods were returned to the owner and the juvenile was issued a citation to appear in Caledonia Family Court on July 27 for the charges of Petit Larceny.

On Saturday, June 24, at approximately 10:53 p.m., Hardwick Police responded to a report of a domestic assault on Hays Drive in Hardwick. Brittany Hay, of Hardwick, was subsequently arrested on charges of domestic assault. She was released on a citation to appear in Caledonia Superior Court, Criminal Division, on Monday, June 26, at 12:30 p.m.

While on patrol Officer Gagnon witnessed Alain Fradette, of E. Hardwick, driving a black Acura MDX. The officer knows that Fradette’s license is under criminal suspension from previous interactions. During the traffic stop, it was relayed to the officer that there are court conditions that he is not to drive without a valid license. Fradette is also supposed to have the ignition interlocking system in his car which he did not have. He was issued a citation for court on July 31. Fradette also was given a ticket for no registration.

Officer Gagnon responded to a report of a two-car accident at the intersection of Rte. 16 and Rte. 15. A 2022 Subaru Outback operated by Dianne Munson, of E. Orange, had stopped at the stop sign on Rte. 16 and was waiting for traffic when a 2013 Subaru Legacy operated by Lucia Dente, of Wheelock, ran into the back of the stopped vehicle. Dente stated that she thought the vehicle was pulling out. The front of Dente’s vehicle sustained moderate damage to the front. There was minor damage to the rear of Munson’s vehicle.
