State Police Report

On August 20, at approximately 5:15 p.m., the Vermont State Police responded to a report of a crash on Vt. Rte. 58 in the town of Barton. Upon trooper’s arrival, it was determined two motorcycles had crashed, one of them colliding with a car. Investigation revealed Travis Jewett, of Johnson, was traveling east and was unable to negotiate the right-hand corner and crossed left of center. At the time, Raymond Giroux, of Albany, traveling west, laid his motorcycle down to avoid a collision with Jewett. Jewett’s motorcycle slid across the roadway and struck the front of the car which was traveling west behind Giroux, driven by Danielle Schneider, of Newport. Both motorcycles and the involved car sustained relatively minor damage. Both Jewett and Giroux sustained minor, non-life-threatening injuries. Jewett denied transport and Giroux was transported by Orleans Ambulance to North Country Hospital. Schneider nor any passengers within her vehicle were injured. Orleans Fire Department responded and assisted on scene.
