On September 6, Jon LeBlanc, of Westford, called the Vermont State Police and advised his 16-foot enclosed utility trailer was stolen from a job site on Rte. 15 in Cambridge. Surveillance video showed a stolen town of Wolcott truck pulled up to LeBlanc’s trailer and towed it away, just after 6 a.m. on September 6. Later in the day Troopers out of the Williston Barracks located Eric Edson, of Northwest State Correctional Facility St. Albans, driving the stolen Town of Wolcott truck. Edson fled from troopers at a high rate of speed on Route 1 and passed several vehicles on blind hills and corners. Due to Edson’s gross disregard for the safety of civilians and motorists, troopers discontinued following him. The following day, LeBlanc’s trailer was located abandoned on Wildberry Lane in Westford. The trailer and all of its contents were returned to LeBlanc. Investigation concluded Edson did in fact steal the trailer and parked it on Wildberry Lane. Edson, who is currently incarcerated at Northwest State Correctional Facility, was issued a citation ordering him to appear at the Lamoille County Superior Court Criminal Division on November 8, at 12:30 p.m.
The theft of the Town of Wolcott dump truck is being investigated by the Lamoille County Sheriff’s Department.
