On November 15, at 11:21 p.m., Hardwick Police Department was dispatched to 1167 Vt. Rte. 16 in East Hardwick for the report of a possible collision between a vehicle and an animal.
Shortly after arriving on the scene, 21-year-old Damon Cote arrived back to the scene and identified himself as the driver involved in a deer/car collision. He indicated he hit the deer hard and it should be off the road. Police located the deer, an adult doe, which had succumbed to its injuries.
Cote was not injured though his 2019 Nissan Altima sustained significant damage to the front end and hood. No other persons or animals were involved in this incident.
On October 26, at 4:15 p.m., a complainant called to report that their home at 73 Dale St. had been burglarized and there was an unknown amount of money and a cell phone taken. Someone entered through a window by taking a screen out. This is still under investigation.
On November 17, at 11:04 a.m., police were dispatched to a vehicle that was involved in a crash. Upon arrival, Laurie Mclane, of Hardwick, stated that she lost control of her vehicle as she was leaving Dollar General and left the north bound side of Rte. 14. Mclane’s vehicle hit a speed limit sign and a telephone pole. Mclane’s 2023 Nissan Altima sustained serious damage to the passenger side front and fender. The traffic sign was taken completely down and the pole had minor scrapes. There were no injuries reported.
